The City of West Plains is accepting applications for Part-time Laborers for the West Plains Municipal Golf Course at City Hall, 1910 Holiday Lane West Plains Missouri or you may apply online at www.westplains.net. Duties include heavy manual labor and operating equipment including zero turn mowers, weed eaters, etc. High school or GED and six to twelve months related experience and/or training. The City of West Plains is now accepting applications/resumes for the position of Business Manager at West Plains Civic Center. The position will be responsible for coordinating and directing the operation of the business office and box office.   The Business Manager has the opportunity to have first-hand contact with the Civic Center customers and patrons, making a “can do” attitude a necessity.  A full job description is available at City Hall.  The Business Manager will report to the Civic Center Director. The City of West Plains is accepting applications/resumes at City Hall, 1910 Holiday Lane or online at www.westplains.net for a Municipal Collector/Driver in the Recycle Department.  Duties are as follows:  Drives packer-type truck, roll-off truck, recycle truck with compartments, or truck equipped with hydraulic lifting device to collect garbage, trash and recycle materials on designated routes within the municipality. The City of West Plains (population approximately 12,000), located in the Ozarks in the South Central Region of Missouri is seeking an innovative leader for the position of Fire Chief.  The position plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Fire Department.  The department consists of 15 fulltime firefighters including administration and 15-20 paid on call firefighters, working out of 3 fire stations located thru out 14 square miles, also provides automatic aid with neighboring Rural District comprised of 186 square miles, in addition to mutual aid agreements with remaining Howell County Departments.  The position plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Fire Department.  This includes, fire suppression, hazardous material mitigation, fire and life safety code compliance and administrative support services.  Coordinates assigned activities with other City Departments and outside agencies and provides highly responsible administrative support to the City Administrator.  The Fire Chief must possess administrative, leadership, supervisory, employee relations, strategic planning, and budgetary skills.  A minimum of 5 years demonstrated management experience in a senior administrative position in a career or combination department is required.  This position requires an Associate Degree from college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, must have a minimum of state certified Fire Fighter 1 and 2 (IFSAC), Fire Officer I and state certified Instructor I.
