Park Director Wins Three Awards

West Plains parks and recreation director Mike Davis received three awards from the Missouri Park and Recreation Association at their conference March 8 in Branson.

He was awarded Excellence in Service for the sports section, which is awarded for developing new sports programs and advancements in the sports field; The Southwest Region Outstanding New Professional Award, where he was recognized for skills and service beyond normal position requirements; and the Outstanding New Professional Award in the Park Resources.

Davis, who began working as parks and recreation director in 2013, is the first director from West Plains to win three award categories at the conference.

He was nominated by Park Board Member Michelle Miller. Present for the presentation of awards was park board member Ryan Cundall and city councilman Mike Topliff.

All awards required a membership of the Missouri Park and Recreation Association.
