Skateboard enthusiasts will find the Robert Neathery Skate Park provides a challenging layout designed especially for their sport. The park includes amenities such as restrooms, a pavilion, parking and access to other city recreation areas. It is located at St. Louis and East First Streets. This location is near city walking trails, ballparks, West Plains High School, West Plains Civic Center and is just north of the downtown area. A large donation for the park was given by Robert Neathery and the park was named in his honor.

The community offers an extensive park system which provides scenic views throughout the entire city.Within the City of West Plains, eleven parks are available for recreation with some providing playgrounds, pavilions, picnic tables and grills. New playground equipment was installed in the city parks in May 2013. The city also provides an aquatics park, as well as baseball/softball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and walking parks. The Missouri Conservation Department also has a beautiful nature trail with fish ponds and park benches. The building has a gift shop and many free publications on Missouri's flowers, birds, fish, wildlife and more.
