The City of West Plains is accepting applications for a Medium Equipment Operator for the Water/Sewer Department at City Hall 1910 Holiday Lane West Plains Missouri or may apply online at www.westplains.net. Duties include operating all types of trucks, tractors, backhoes and similar equipment.  When not operating equipment performs manual labor to which assigned. High school or GED and one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain Missouri CDL–Class B with air brake endorsement. The City West Plains is now accepting applications/resumes for the position of Electric Apprentice Lineman. The position will perform work in the construction, maintenance and repairing of electrical power lines and will also learn the current technics in installing fiber for telecommunications use on the apprentice level.  Will be required to be on call on a rotating schedule with a minimum respond time of 30 minutes.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Will be required to obtain lineman status within 5 years given proper training and schooling thru Missouri Public Utility Alliance Apprentice Lineman Program.  General knowledge of approved methods, materials, tools and equipment used in power line construction, maintenance and repair and general knowledge of the principles of electricity as applied to electric distribution systems. Ability and/or knowledge to operate Journeyman’s tools, lineman testing equipment, line truck.  Must have a current CDL – Class B w/airbrake endorsement or be able to obtain. The City of West Plains is accepting applications/resumes for an Apprentice Water Treatment Plant Operator at the Water Treatment Plant. Duties will include analyzing and evaluating operations and maintenance functions; lab testing, equipment repairs, housekeeping of the Water Treatment Plant. Must have or be able to obtain CDL Class B within required timeframe.  Will be required to obtain Missouri DNR approved water operator training, and Missouri DNR Class D Drinking Water Certification. Will need to have or obtain Confined Space Entry training. Qualifications are a High School diploma or GED and minimum one year related experience and/or training.  Previous experience desirable in a community water treatment and distribution system.  Will be required to be on call on a rotation, must be able to work some weekends and holidays.
